If the TT rides well then there shouldn't be a need for straps. We had a rear living that while it gave a jerky ride to the truck, never bounced all over the road. We swapped places with the free standing dinette and the rear rockers. Never tied down the small lightweight dinning chairs. Never fell over once in 8000+ miles. IMO it all depends on how the TT goes down the road, Some are better than others.
