If he is in a state that licenses tonnage, tell him to make sure he pays for enough (like 12K) for the load he is going to haul. And to make sure he does not exceed the RGAWR.
This has been beat black and blue many times.
Licensed tonnage and Federal Bridge Weight Laws are what is enforced. No Pickup is going to exceed the Federal Bridge Weight Laws.
Warranty "could" be an issue, however how will the vehicle manufacturer know?
