Jim I think what our 05 has works great for grade braking but with the newer and heavier fifths What we have would be not enough. So GM or both of the other brands had no choice for the EB. Good for all of us I think.

chevman - coolbreeze01ExplorerI've never owned a GM but BD exhaust brakes sure work well on Cummins. As mentioned, I wouldn't own a diesel pickup without one.

Brake!
A new record of only 2 minutes so I'll know what your question is about. THANKS Don as I would have never figured it out. :S
OP, with tow/haul you do not need an exhaust BREAK.:W
I had 4 Chevy's with D/A and the grade braking is awesome, but GM has even added the EB to their newer D/A combo's, so even THEY feel its a added measure of stopping , braking performance. I have had an EB on my last three trucks and won't own a truck without one now. - Lenny_KExplorerI went with the Banks Speed Brake. It is plug and play so it is easy to install yourself. It takes out all of the stress of going down a steep grade. With a heavy 5th Wheel you need more than Tow Haul. If your trailer is not too heavy, Tow Haul should do the trick.

I'm confused. Is the OP talking about the exhaust break on his toe vehicle? - AllworthExplorer III have heard of a cracked manifold! Is that an exhaust break?
- campiglooExplorerThe nice thing about the Banks is it never needs adjusting.
- BedlamModeratorBoth of my last two trucks ('05 Ford and '15 Ram) used VGT as their exhaust brakes. Both have had no trouble keeping speed in check on descents with TH and EB activated. If the GM of that era uses a fixed vane turbo, you will love the control you gain from a Banks, PacBrake or BD.
