Passengers and fuel are about 650. So still under tow weight and GCVW even IF I load the trailer to the max. Hitch weight is listed at 740, so 120 less than max, leaving room for the WD hitchD weight. Has air bag leveling also. Still too much?
Do you travel with absolutely nothing in the trailer? Everything you add will add to the tongue weight. Listed weight is empty trailer. Air bags do nothing to increase your axle weight rating.
5700 is listed weight. 740 is tongue weight when loaded to the maximum gvw of 7600, correct? 7600-5700 is 1900 lbs of batteries, propane, water, and camping gear.
740 is tongue weight empty. Only way to know tongue weight loaded is to weigh it ready to travel.
Is this true? This is the first time I've heard that in all the reading of towing guides and forums. Why would they publish that if it's useless? I realize it can vary depending on how you load the trailer but from my research you try to load so 10% of the load is tongue weight. I assumed my trailer shows a little less than 10% because the axles are spread wider to bear more weight to the rear? Changing tow vehicles isn't out of the realm of possibilities if needed but I was going to try it first with some test runs. I guess it's all clear as mud now.
An RV needs to have approx. 12.5% for proper tongue weight. 10% is too little and you will have potential sway issues! so you want the final tongue weight to be 12.5% of the trailers actual loaded ready to travel weight.
