Extended Warranties

Are there any extended warranties out there that are worth considering if I buy a TT in a private deal? Looking for something that would be like what you can get at a dealer.
  • I think there is a difference in getting an extended coverage for a MH compared to a TT... Lots more to go wrong on a MH with just the drive train alone...

Most folks seem to get the ext coverage for their tow vehicles, so that makes sense too.. (I didn't get any extra coverage over the base factory coverage on my 13 F150 however).

It's purely a matter of "piece of mind" thing for sure... That's why I mentioned the whole "if it keeps you up at night" either way, that's when you need to do what you have to do to sleep at night! ;)

why give them your money? they don,t cover much,. put the money in a jar and start your own, that way you,ll know its covered. DO BUY a good road service plan. like GS or coach net.

I bought an extended warrant and wish I would have taken that money and put it in an account to pay for what the warranty has paid for. My 7 year extended warranty is about up and I think I have used less than 20% of what I paid into the warranty.

My recommendation is to explore options but understand that a quality unit will have few problems outside the original manufacturers warranty.
  • All well and good to say "take your money and put it in a jar (or wherever else) and pay for the repairs when needed" but I am sure many folk take it back out of the jar or don't put it aside religiously, especially when that cool new costly asscessory appears to be indispensable.

This approach is all well and good if (a) the money can be accumulated fast enough to cover one or two simultaneous expenses and (b) if you are not only able/handy but have and acceptable physical location to enable you to work on the trailer. These are considerations that might be missed when making this decision.

Extended warranties are good for many folk, aside from the undeniable "peace of mind" especially when the cost is balanced with the benefit. As with any type of "insurance" you may never need it but if you have it when you do, you are usually glad you did.

I have the extra year of FR warranty for $150 and also have a good extended warranty on my truck, bought when the truck was bought new. Works for me.
