Extended warranty - best options?

Anyone out there have experience with extended warranty companies? Trying to decide whether to go with the Ford extended warranty or a separate third party, something like Car Shield. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • If you are going to buy one, get it from the vehicle manufacturer.

READ THE FINE PRINT ON WHAT IS NOT COVERED CAREFULLY !
  • Ask for a blank copy of the insurance policy, it's not a warranty.
Read it and find all the exclusions before you decide on what to purchase.
  • We had an extended warranty once. Never again. Our few claims were denied almost every time. Sorry your ac quit, it’s not covered because the park’s electricity fluctuated. Your brakes aren’t covered because your tire went flat. The company used any excuse it could find to deny coverage.
  • None of them are warranties they are repair insurance. You pay out now and and if you need repairs later they take care of it. If you don't need covered repairs it is money down the drain. I find it is far better to put money into a special place for future repairs. That way if you don't need repairs the money is still yours.
