Extentded Warranty? Is it worth it?

Hey all, Just put a down payment on a 2012 Forest River Wildcat TT 31 BHS. Will be purchasing from Rv Wholesalers They want approx. $2500 for a 5 year extended warranty. The TT comes with a 1 year warranty. I was wondering if it is worth the extra dough, or is it better to go with an outside warranty company. If so what companies are worth going with? I normally dont do the extended warranty with purchases, however after reading horror stories from posts, I wonder if this time I should make an exception. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks
  • I am not sure about the deductibles, The dealer was saying that the original manuf. warranty does not cover tires or slide seals, and the extended would cover those items. I was at work today and not able to get into the specifics, I have a few weeks before I go pick it up, and so I have a little time to research. What about a Good Sam warranty, I have heard some talk that they offer ESP's
  • It is nothing more than a hugely overpriced insurance policy with holes big enough to drive a truck through for the issuer.
  • $2500 sounds a little high. Is it zero deductible for that? Does it include tire replacement? Lots of questions to ask and companies to compare coverage before buying.

Lots of people think extended warranties are a waste of money and will tell you (long and really loudly), but I disagree. Just purchased ESP on our TT today, in fact.
  • I am the owner of a Forest River product (2012 323FK TT) & from what I seen about the production of the product from Forest River...I would be sure to get as much warranty as I could...I sure wish I had.
  • my dealer offered a 5 yr for 1300 so at that price I went with it...at 2500 I would have passed
  • i have a 2002 did not bye a extended plan and glad i did not no problems with it
  • FR should give you a 1 year extended for about a hundred dollars. If the dealer does not offer that, ask them. I would not pay for a 5 year, It is nothing more that a hugh profit center for the dealers.
