if it covers tires, it probably only covers defects, not wear or age.

NO extended warrany for my RVs either. Instead, I spent the "instead of extended warranty" dollars on "better protection improvement / upgrades that I applied myself. For example, Surge Protection, 12V manual battery switch, tinted windows in bedrooms, roof vents, re-location of H/W bipass valves, install of wire mesh around HW tank (to eliminate risk of fire), STAR brake wiring intead of factory linear wiring, etc. etc. Proactive and/or minor improvements that are free - instead of spending dollars on extended warranty. If wondering, never had problems during extended warranty time window (if we did buy it).

I generally never buy extended warranties on anything, for many of the same reasons given here, but I bought one on the DW car one time and it paid off big…

So I decided since my RV was going to be my full time home, and unlike the stick and brick I wouldn’t have a shop or a unlimited supply of tools and materials, nor would I have friends and relatives readily available if I needed help as back-up, that a road service and extended service contract was an inexpensive substitute for an aging body and mind… to me it is a cost of doing business so to speak… the thing is it turns out it hasn’t been much of a cost yet… learning to use the benefits of stacking repairs under one low deductible applying cost of repair toward new replacement and a covered fridge cooling unit early on put me literally years ahead of the game very early on…

Often people say there is no need to have it until after the mfg. warranty runs out, that it amounts to double coverage or the insurance company getting a free year of premiums…
while I can’t say for sure in all cases that that is true… waiting until the mfg. warranty runs out may actually cost you more in the long run… to know that you would need to know the cost difference if written as new for the life of the contract compared to the cost as written when one or two years old… lower premiums and lower deductibles might be lost by waiting…
what you can’t do is make that comparison in advance because they will quote a price today, I don’t think they will quote a price today for a contract a year from now… meaning you can only make rearward looking comparisons providing you had a quote from both times to compare…

while many wouldn’t recommend them, the reasons given are usually from a very narrow perspective, although that narrow perspective may satisfy their needs…

We've owned our Rockwood for almost 3 years now and we've never needed a warranty of any kind. Nothing has ever broken and we live in ours on average 4 days a week. We also bought ours at RV Wholesalers and passed on the extended warranty and glad we did.

Forest River has a one-year warranty on new TT's doesn't it? It just doesn't cover tires and seals, so is that the only additional coverage you'd get during year one?

We went with just our TT manufacturer's and appliance makers' warranties for the first year.

As that warranty is nearly over, after comparing prices and benefits among companies, we did go with the GS ESP with tire coverage. It worked for us, numbers-wise.

Definitely get the specifics of what your dealer is offering so you can see what you're getting and can compare costs apples to apples. Chances are you'll find that most companies offer several levels of coverage, different deductibles and various coverage time spans.

Consider the naysayers (my spouse is among them), and then do what you're comfortable doing.

Check out wholesale warranties. The dealer offered me an Xtraride exclusionary policy with 200 deductible for $1900, wholesale warranties was $1400 for $50 deductible. Huge profit center for dealerships plus at the Wholesale Warranties you can choose between the top rated companies. I agree that for $2500 I would forego the extended service plan but with the trouble I have already had with my Dometic double wide refrigerator in the first year, I decided to get the extended service contract.
