External fuel jugs

We carry extra fuel and gas on our receiver hitch cargo tray along with our generator and I didn't like the wobble either. Fixed it by having our local camper friendly welder add a bar on each end of the tray, buttons on the bumper same as our Hapijack tiedowns use, added a pair of Derringer fast guns and stopped the flopping. Helped our steps that are built into the cargo tray become more stable as well. Killed two birds with one stone. The tray even has a receiver built into it for the bike rack. I know, I know, pics. I'm way upload and link challenged. Can handle email attachments, usually.

I have a hitch receiver but I am not certain any of the trays I have seen would withstand even 60-70lbs' bouncing around back there. The backlash/whip on the rear is huge. Your thoughts on that?

when I do a search for "spare tire fuel can mount", I find a bunch of solutions and ideas.

I put my jerry can carriers on my TC to extend my range when driving the Dalton Highway in AK. Now that I'm living in 'Merica, I think I'll replace the fuel cans with water cans.

Anyhow.....the AT can holders don't mount on the bumper, they bolt onto the real wall. Wherever I had access to the back wall to put a nut on a bolt, I did so. Otherwise, I used threadserts from the outside only and a socket dome head screw (not metric).

Would this work?

The problem I have is with a C..I have a plastic bumper, not a for real one. And yes, I could figure out a way to put one on, I suppose, but that seems to be making what ought to be an easy fix, not so much.

I am seldom that far off-road that I need worry about extra fuel, so, I don't want to re-design the RV, I just want to be able to carry maybe 10 gallons when I am going way off. Seems to me that a strapping or bridal of some kind on the rear spare, then attaching two fuel jug carriers, one to each side...just shouldn't be such a big deal. It needs to be robust, right? not just webbing?

several people in our off road group of Jeeps have the setups. I made a rack, and box for the back of my old fashioned camper to put original "Jerry cans" type gas cans on my camper. Since I have had some trouble getting diesel in some small backwater type places where reg gas was available, but not diesel.

Thanks..I have checked out the 3 site addresses you mentioned and no joy. If I were handy-dandy, I'd just fabricate something. I may yet. If so, that'll be me with the chewing gum and baling wire holding it all together.

x2. Rotopax. I bought mine direct from the manufacturer. DO NOT get the Kolpin version. Terrible copy.

Definatly look to 4 wheel parts dot com, or to 4wheel drive hardware dot com for some of the mentioned cans and mounts. Also I think they sell them through Quadratec.com
