Whether you have a 1/2 ton or larger, and you are towing within the rated capacity of the vehicle, that is all that's important. Who are we to judge.
The problem is most of these experts take the manufacturers tow rating as the gospel and never both to read the small print on the rating and never learn about tow ratings.
In a real world truck loaded with family and gear, you will not be able to tow within tow ratings
