My point is there are many "experts" on this forum that discount pretty well all 1/2 tons for towing anything more than a pop up.
Whether you have a 1/2 ton or larger, and you are towing within the rated capacity of the vehicle, that is all that's important. Who are we to judge.
The problem is most of these experts take the manufacturers tow rating as the gospel and never both to read the small print on the rating and never learn about tow ratings.
In a real world truck loaded with family and gear, you will not be able to tow within tow ratings

Actually you can. Why wouldn't you? You just have to do the math. I can. That is also the mythical 80% rule came to being. For those that can't or won't do the math. The mythical 80% rule keeps people WELL within the manufacturer ratings. Me, I can add, and subtract. So I can easily stay inside my trucks tow capacities.
BTW. that applies for folks towing with 250s, or 350s. they still have to do the math to stay inside the capacities. It is no harder to overload a 150 than it is to overload a 350. and over loaded is over loaded no matter what you drive.
