I agree.. 1/2 ton numbers are inflated for sales, but it's still a 1/2 ton.
It's hard to argue 2000 F250 numbers vs 2010 F150 numbers. A F150 running at RAWR is AT the axle/suspension limit, A F250 at RAWR is closer to 60% of axle/suspension limits....
I tow a 30' (total) TT with a 3500 SRW thru the mountains of Idaho and wouldn't even think about doing it with a 1/2 ton.
Thing is guys. It's not about length. Its about weight. there are LOTS of 30 foot TT that are lighter than many 24 foot TTs. Its all about weight. The length mean nothing.
And to be totally honest. There is NO such thing as a 1/2 ton truck. My socalled 1/2 ton truck has a payload of 1800lbs. Seems to me that is closer to a ton than half ton. A ton being 2000lbs, and a half ton being 1000lbs
