Seems that a lot of trailer towing folks think there is safety in numbers...the more people doing it wrong makes it less wrong. Problem is that premise does not work in reality.
So if you feel comfortable towing the 35' with a little 1/2 ton truck, go for it, but please be careful.
A lot of these so called 1/2 ton experts that are towing heave, have never tried towing with a larger truck and have zero experience to make comparison. Another issue is the time or distance towed. Several years back there was a fellow offering all sorts of towing advice and come to find out, his "experience" was base on an annual pull from his house to his summer site at the beach...a whopping 35 miles.

Also, I assume, plenty of 'big truck' experts who have not towed with a late model 1/2 ton truck! In reality, the term 'half ton' is basically meaningless at this point.
I have towed the same trailer with an '06 2500HD diesel and with my F150. The difference between how the two trucks get the job done is not as great as you might think it is.
Note -- I'm not saying that the F150 could or would out-tow the 3/4 ton at the 3/4 ton's max ratings. But towing a roughly 30', 6500 lb trailer, they both do the job pretty well!
