I know that Cummins recommended a more expensive 3500 with the HO CTD and Aisin, but the price difference between a 3/4 and 1 ton is negligible. I'd get a 1 ton if I could find one, but honestly there is minimal difference between most 3/4 and 1 ton trucks, other than an arbitrary class 2B distinction. In many states you can simply register a 3/4 ton for a higher weight than the 10,000 lbs Class 2B, you just have to pay for the higher weight.
But if buying, might as well get the 1 ton and not deal with speculation.
