I ordered a 2016 F150 Lariat just before Christmas but made a minor mistake on the order and was reviewing the price and noticed that the exact same truck will cost $785 more now than it did two weeks ago. I will check with the dealer Monday and see if correcting the mistake will cause the truck to be re-priced at the new rates. If so I will have to drop it.The increases are $490 more for the SCREW Lariat and $295 for LT tire upgrade that used to be NC.The mistake was that the dealer questioned if I really wanted automatic parallel parking for $400. Since there isn't any parallel parking in my town I let him talk me out of but I had forgotten that dropping it made me lose a $500 package discount. Now I am paying $100 more for less truck. I am certainly not going to pay $685 more for the option that I still don't need. I wish that figuring out which boxes to check wasn't so confusing. I am convinced that the dealer did not realize what he did to me because his order sheet doesn't work the way that the one on the customer website does and did not show the loss of the discount package. Ford really needs to make the two pages work the same way.

On a serious note. It is probably just the way they are packaging the options as you found out. Can be tricky finding the exact options you want and get them bundled so you do not have to pay ala carte. And worse when they play around with the discount packages but they all do it to maximize profits.

Back in the 1930's and early '40's you could probably get a new Ford or Chevy Pickup for $ 785. Total. I know, I know things go up.

Just one more reason why the buyer should be more knowledgeable about the truck than the seller... Sorry you got hit with a higher price (with is really NOTHING in the grand scheme of a 4 or 5 year vehicle loan, FYI), but better knowledge of the product you are buying could have prevented this.

The discount just slipped my mind when he questioned whether I really wanted it. Now I have to get with him to see if we can get the order fixed without re-pricing the whole order. Since I have in writing where I asked for the fix before January 1st I am fairly optimistic.I feel like it was an honest mistake, with 5 or 6 trim levels, 3 cabs and a myriad of options I have yet to find any dealer that really knows all there is to know about ordering a 150, much less the entire Ford line. The dealer has to punch in the order codes for each item that he wants and then submit the entire order at one time. His order form is not interactive like the customer "build it yourself" order form is. Also, the options are not identified the same way. Even though I sent him the link to what I had put together it took him about 15 minutes to translate what I had specified into the format that he had to submit. I was across the desk from him the whole time and had to help in some places. The confusion is unbelievable. That is what I am blaming my brain fart on.

By the way, Ford used to package towing mirrors with their heavy duty towing package. Not any more. Ignorance or stupidity on their part. Sure they make more money by selling them separate, but why not just raise the price of the HD Towing Pkg. to include the towing mirrors? Some people don't catch that when ordering and are very disappointed when their truck arrives. Then the towing mirrors become a very expensive "after market" item. Makes for poor customer satisfaction.

Many years ago I calculated that it would take over 27 years to build one of every possible combination of options on a particular car. While some cars have gotten more standardized it seems that trucks have become less so and the probability of finding exactly what I want is slim to none. Apparently Ford feels good enough about their sales of the F150 to risk a small price (and profit) increase. Some potential buyers may want to look for trucks made and priced before the increase. At least it seems to be only $500 on most trucks. As I recall, Chevy raised the price several thousand dollars after bragging about how small their price increase on the all new (was it 2014 models?) was. Maybe some investigative reported will find out more details on the price increases and give us a full run down on the story. Is pickuptrucks.com reading this? Also, maybe someone at Ford will agree with me that there should be a simpler way of matching what I built online to what the dealer needs to order.

+1 for ordering a truck. Still love mine after 15 years. $500 should not impact your decision.

This is exactly the problem I'm having.

All of the dealer around here order trucks with the highest "value" package they can. I don't need that many frills, just a few.

The F250 with the 4.30 axle can be found sometimes, but it lacks a bunch of other stuff as well.

I keep thinking, why in the world would anybody order these trucks this way?? For example, a 3.73 axle ratio with all the towing packages, but no towing mirrors....crazy stuff.

That's easier said then done. Dealers seem to order all the same level of trucks with very similar equipment. For example, I've yet to find an F250 with the gas engine, 4.3 gears, 5th wheel prep and extended towing mirrors. The 4.3 gears are non-existent on a gas truck as far as I have seen. And when I plan to spend $50,000, I will get the truck I want and need and not what some guy behind a computer screen at the dealership thinks I need when they place their stock orders.

Always look for the truck with your options (plus any additional) on the lot at the closest dealer before ordering and you will avoid all of this nonsense.

I think the dealer should eat that and give it to you for the price you agreed to pay in 2015. Good luck!
