If you need to stay under 10,000# I would also suggest a 6.2 gas to get more payload as the diesel is about 500# heaver. I would assume that you are looking for stable tow.
The other option is to do some investigation before buying the cost and issues with registering a truck over 10,000#. Is it a one time hassle, or is it a hassle each time and is it he hassle, or cost?

I test drove a F250 and the ride quality is excellent when unloaded (this will be my daily driver so it is important). How does a F350 rides compare to a 250?
