I'm not sure that people understand that there are several manufacturers who build 30 ft TT's that are right around 5,000 lbs dry. These are not stripped down models either. Typically they use something like Adzel in the construction. The Apex 28BH is a great example.
OP...thanks for posting your experience with your N/A 3.5 in the F150.
I do want to encourage you to load up for camping, fuel up fully, bring the family and get your rig weighed at a cat scale. You may be at 7,100 lbs with your trailer or not.
You will need three trips across the scales
1) your truck by itself, fully loaded ( front axle on first pad, rear axle on the next pad)
2) your truck and trailer with the WD hitch attached(truck same as above, trailer on the third pad.
3) your truck and trailer without the WD hooked up
Then post your weights here.
As far as traveling... just let the V6 spin. It will be fine. I do agree that a supplemental transmission cooler would be helpful.
