f350, 6.7

I've heard that the 6.7 is a very good engine. I've also heard that this engine first appeared in pickups in 2012. And that there were some issues with that engine up until 2016. And since then, all the major problems have been solved. 1. Is all that true? 2. What is the first year pickup with the 6.7 would you buy, that you believe would be problem-free? Any other related comments appreciated.

    2017 was the first year they stuffed the Super Duty drive train under an F150. :(

    Had my 17 for a little over 2 years now 80,000km = 50,000 miles most of it towing our fifth wheel and other construction trailers. No issues.

    My father in law had an early 2011 that he drove for for 4 years Then passed it down to someone else that works for his company. Truck has nearly 300,000 miles and has been largely trouble free other than radiator issues. And they aren't known to be sticklers on preventative maintenance.

    My next truck will likely be a 6.7 liter Ford, but the one I bought in 2002 is still going strong so it will be awhile.

    "My current 2012 6.7 has been great with over 180k miles and the engine hasn't been touched, but I've had to replace all the EGT sensors, AC condenser coil, passenger side bearing hub, and just recently the AC compressor to date so it hasn't been problem free nor will any truck be problem free with age and miles."

    Yes, 2011 was the first year. I have a 2012 6.7 bought new and no problems at all with that engine.
