The formula for calculating horsepower from torque is constant regardless of engine. No matter what kind of engine, if it is making X torque at Y rpm, then it is making Z horsepower at Y rpm. If you have a diesel and gas making 400 lb-ft at 2,000 rpm, then both are making 152 horsepower at 2,000 rpm.
