I see a simple fix to your problem..have a shop cut out the bed where the tailgate would go say about 50" wide and reboxed the bed and removed piece putting four spring pins to make the center removable to haul a tc..the first Fontaine like that i saw had been converted to full width tailgate using standard pick up bed hardware..
