"I don't understand how a tailgate such as been proposed to you would create a bed rail height issue? We are not suggesting that you try and use a standard tailgate that would be taller. A standard tailgate would not fit and bears no resemblance to the Classic Traveler body lines. What was being suggested is to re-use the piece you cut out, by reinforcing it. and making a removeable (but not necessarily a drop down) tailgate out of the cut out piece, remounted with pins."
BigToe, my bed rail height concern is based on my understanding of the 13" height on my bed vs the 19" height on a pickup bed and the gap that would create for the TC. If I understood others comments correctly that visually would be an issue, am I correct?
When I ordered the bed I had the option of the tailgate. It was an additional $1000 and at the time I didn't think it necessary. Having the cutout done and a tailgate fabricated from it is a great suggestion. Would the way the rear flares out keep a TC from fitting?
As far at the 6.0, I've had my issues. New transmission under warranty in 2006 and head gaskets a couple of years ago. Ford stepped up for half the head gasket repair due to the low mileage on the truck plus my previous purchase of three previous Powerstrokes. It runs great now, keeping fingers grossed.
