Heck a crew cab pickup probably has more leg room and width than the SUV. Put a cap on the back if you want storage and get any trailer you want. The Ford crew cab has like 42" leg room in front and 42.5" in the back. I'm 6' and love the room in my cab. Also the Expedition only has like 1,700# of cargo capacity. Dry weight includes on driver at 150# add 5 people at 150# (don't know many adults/teenagers in the 150# category) and you have less than 1,000# tong weight not to mention the other stuff you'll want to pack in your SUV for the trip. For a 6,500# trailer you'll need 650# tong and 100 or so for the hitch assembly.
Super crew cab with a 6.5' bed (144.5" WB) is around the same size (131" WB) as the expedition and with a cap you can haul bikes and everything else in the bed.
Just tossing out a idea.
