I would go with the Toyota Sequoia over anything from Ford or GM or anyone else. Reliability is important but even more so when you are towing a trailer on the highway. Toyota has ranked number one by JD Powers for the last 5 years in a row.
There are vans that sit on a 3/4 ton truck chassis and they will be able to tow a conventional trailer with at most the addition of a weight distributing hitch. More space than a SUV but without 4WD (AWD may be available).
Trailers are being made lighter so that smaller vehicles can tow them. There are quite a few that weigh in under 5,000 lbs dry weight and an SUV that can tow 7500 lbs. will be adequate.
Another option is a class C motorhome for 6 people.
