Father/ daughter truck project update 2 (paint finally) pics

I posted a few months back about the 1989 Ford Ranger project my daughter and I are doing for her first vehicle. Over the winter we did alot of work. Everything from replacing the rear springs and a front coil spring tower to brakes lines to body panels. Made regular bone yard trips. The truck had taken some abuse and been in an accident prior to us getting it but the process has been a good learning experience for her. Finally after the months of unrelenting cold left we got the body prepped and the paint done. She picked a Black Cherry Pearl Metallic. The color changes a lot depending on how bright it is outside. I put on four coats. Next up is the flatbed which will be made of oak. Still debating on stain or natural with sealer. I guess we will experiment a little on some scrap. My daughter is very excited. I will post pics of the bed when it is done.

  • Very nice! I love cooking and can't even get any of my three daughters interested in learning to cook, let alone remember how to check the oil in their cars.

Now, you need to get her to test her skills with a pin striping brush, also as for the oak bed ... a light stain (honey) and then clear.

  • What a great experience for both of you!

She will take much better care of it having put all that work into it.
