Favorite Campground in PA

Just got back from Prince Gallitzen State Park. It is our family's favorite. Huge lake and a great campground with clean showers and plenty of hot water.

We love Ohiopyle, PA and stay at the Old Kentuck campground often. Here are a few pics of the gorgeous scenery when we were there a week or so ago. There is tons of hiking and an awesome bike trail along the river.

I really like the NF campgrounds around Allegheny res. My top priority is a decent sized site not right on top of your neighbor.

We really liked Griffon Pinchot just south of Harrisburg. Over 300 acre lake, campground has its own swimming beach, nice bike riding, disc golf courses. I suggest one of the pet friendly sites that back up to the playground. They are nice large sites.

Candy Hill in Winchester. A bit pricy but great service, friendly, clean, well manicured, good camp store and it has wifi.

Really nice camp ground.. you might want to book way in advance if you want a lake front site..great for camping early and late seasons, they have an indoor pool..

Looking thru their rules, that is the first CG I have seen that does not allow electric heaters

We prefer to stay in parks that do not restrict you to a specific area. nothing worse than a bunch of dogs and cats all up close and personnel. so we look for parks that do not restrict you to a specific area. it really starts to limit your choices, but worth it in our book.
