Or has this thread already deteriorated with preemptive whining.
Not who I was expecting, but trolling none the less. Job well done sir!
How am I trolling? It was a legitimate question. Nothing derogatory was said but it seems like some would like to steer it that way. You apparently are unaware of my affiliation with FCA along with other Detroit car companies. - Allamakee1ExplorerWell that's good news. I haven't been following the scandal because of so many rumors, but for those of us owners, I'm happy it's moving along.

Basically FCA engineers just had to set down with the EPA and go line by line through the software controls and explain how the exceptions that the EPA questioned played within the rules.

Well, looks like some of their deviations did not get approved. But at least all the fixes can be addressed with a re-flash.The 2017 updates include modified emissions software calibrations,
True. A re-flash to alter the exception conditions is all it will take to correct the issue.
The main thing is they were deviations of the EPA's expectations. This is very different from VW where they literally programmed the ECM to use a different set of tables when the vehicles were plugged into emissions testing equipment, but used a different set that polluted more during normal driving conditions. In the case of the Ecodiesel, the EPA said the extreme condition exceptions were different than they thought.
I'm glad the EPA is being reasonable and FCA will be back on track. At least it's not a VW situation where they just said "oh well, we just won't ever sell another diesel in the US". Ugh, really? I find it odd there couldn't have been some kind of solution to the issue.

I know it was not my imagination but generally Diesel makes up 22% of overall sales here
Huh!?! :h
What does that have to do with the Ecodiesel now being allowed to be sold in the US again?
Easy, the VMotori is already sold here.no restrictions were placed. Unlike the US and the hysteria about Diesels, Diesels are being sold in record numbers - ROBERTSUNRUSExplorer:) Hi, I'm not a diesel fan or a Dodge fan, but glad they got this sorted out and back on the market.

And why does global sales matter when the topic us US sales only? This has nothing to do with the Australian or European since our diesel NOx output emissions regulation is more strict than even the new Euro 6 regulations so...... - buckyExplorer IIThe gov moves very slowly in all matters, but especially in an understaffed EPA. They are looking very hard at all diesel manufacturers and are in no particular hurry. Sadly this gives time for rumors to grow like mold in a flood house.
I'm glad that they have passed the inspection and can get on with business. - RobertRyanExplorer

They certainly are not as strict and US compliant cannot be sold herr or in Europe.. Well US sales are a matter of hysteria, something that does not exist outside NA.
VM Motori is an Italian manufacturer of diesels, .RAM 3litre is built in Italy, it is a European engine that is sold globally , although it's US regs differ - FlashmanExplorer IIWell which is it??
Is the U.S. more restrictive than Europe? - RobertRyanExplorer

Neither , they have a different emphasis.,Euro stages are more aimed at CO2 and particulates , US N0x. " Euro" does not relate to Europe as such, but the type of restrictions. You get Japanese , Korean Trucks that have a "'Euro" compliance.
