FEMA Trailer Suggestion

I am new to the forum and hoping to get some good suggestions on an issue I am having. So I recently bought a lot and a FEMA camper on a river. The camper will stay at the river lot the majority of the year. My problem is that I do not have water or sewage hookups at the river and my camper does not have holding tanks. I'm not to worried about it because it will just be a weekend get-a-way but my wife would like to use the bathroom and shower lol. So my question is can I rig up a pump, hose, and filter to use for the toilet and shower to pump out of the river and just get by with buying one holding tank? Has anyone done anything like this before?

  • Composting toilet ? There are also toilets that use electric to reduce the waste to ash , common on ferry boats , I priced one at eleven hundred dollars ten years ago .
  • ford truck guy, yes the camper will stay on the river lot and not moved unless it is going to flood. I am not worried about taking the tanks with me when I leave to empty them, just wanting something easier than carrying 2 or more tanks with me every time we come and go. Old-Biscuit, the river is actually a clear river, one of the cleanest in my area. We will only be staying up to 3 nights at a time so I was thinking just trying to filter the sand would be good enough to at least rinse off with during the summer months. I have power on the lot so that is no worry's. Just need ideas for an easy pump and filter system. My camper has a hot water heater, but I think its just plumbed to all empty out of the same spot on the camper.
  • I'm sure it has been done.............legally is the question :B

Pumping water from a river to use as showering and flushing toilet is no different then swimming in said river.

Using one waste containment holding tank is nothing new either. Wasn't that many years ago RVs just had one waste tank for grey and black waste water.

Pump with suction screen and filter on discharge supplying your 'get away' camper........just need power source
Then means of collecting/containing all waste water to be hauled away and properly dumped
  • If its gonna be parked at the lake and NOT moved , you will have to empty the tanks somehow ? and somewhere ?
