Fender skirt questions

Hi, all. Quite a newby here. I have a Keystone Bullet TT. The fender skirts are very flimsy and have broken - I know this is big news to everyone. :) Two questions: 1. do the skirts serve any purpose or are they just to make the rig look pretty? 2. Is there anything that I can use to make the skirts more rigid? ??Plasti dip? Thanks everyone!

I had same problem, went to Lowes and bought a 1 and 1/2 inch wide by 2 ft long aluminum, It bends easy I bent it on the inside of skirt added two screws and nuts and bent the top so I could attach to frame. It keeps it from flapping.

Just the one piece of aluminum did the trick or did you put one in the front and one in the back? I have a tandem wheel trailer, so was curious where exactly the aluminum was placed. If you have a pic, that'd be awesome. I'm a visual learner. :)
  • My fender skirt on my Bullet Premier had a crack in it and on the trip home 2 weekends ago the wind peeled it back the rest of the way. I went on www.trekwoodrv.com and bought a new one for $115 including shipping.

I've been wondering about a way to make it more rigid, but I'll just be glad not to have a piece of plastic flapping off the side of my RV.
  • Belated thanks for the replies. My PC had a virus. I will try your solutions! Thanks again, all.
  • Both sides of mine came loose within the first year. Keystone replaced them under the factory warranty. When the dealer replaced them, they did exactly what was described with the thick aluminum strap. Haven't had any other problems with them since, but they have only been on a year.
  • Just noticed this post....just took both of mine off this afternoon to reseal and glue back the screw attach points. My left side is the worst...I know that a lot of this is caused by vibration etc. I am going to get my next set of tires soon, going to see how well they will balance.
  • Yep, same problem. Pretty much same solution. Mine only flapped on the drivers side because it's split because of the slide out.
