Doesn't Ford own Cummins (aka "Cummings"...)?
Back in the late 1980's (maybe the very early 19190"s) Ford owned a significant portion of Cummins stock, never a controlling interest, but they have since sold all interest in Cummins.
9% was not a significant portion! Chris - DownTheAvenueExplorerWhen Daimler first "merged" with Chrysler, one of the first things the Germans wanted to do was put their diesels in the Dodge trucks. They quickly learned from a marketing, engineering and logistical standpoint that was not a workable idea.

One 6BT (5.9L) and one 4BT (3.9L).
- thomasmnileExplorerThought Cummins developed the 5.9 with J.I. Case for use in their farm tractors and combines, then Case backed out of using it?
- mkirschNomad IIDodge Cummings. Sounds like an X-rated movie actor's name.

- B_O__PlentyExplorer IIFIAT= Fix It Again Tony....Their cars have a terrible rating in Consumer Reports. Could their diesel be any better??
B.O. - jus2shyExplorerBelieve it or not, the 5.9 and 6.7 ISB motors were co-developed with Iveco and Fiat at some point. I know they split development on the XPI fuel injection system as well on heavier vehicles. Doubt they would throw the Cummins name away, but the Iveco equivalent is largely the same motor.
