fifthwheel brake wiring

When traveling in dry conditions, everything works fine, brakes, lights, turn signals, etc. However when it starts to rain truck (98 F3 50) message center says trailer disconnected. Although I still have all lights, but brakes don't work until it drys out. Truck has added in bed socket. Scotch connecters were removed and replaced with soldered connections and covered with three coats of liquid tape. Then wrapped in regular electric tape. The problem still presists when it rains. Any suggestions?
  • Check wiring at axles and wheels for any place where the wiring insulation may have rubbed thru.
  • Try redoing the connections at the axles. I had two go bad this year resulting in no brakes so I just redid them all.
