Lots of mis-information about OPDs.
OPDs do one thing BUT need the rest of 'device' (hose) to properly work.
Each one has it's own role and built in safety components and working together make propane cylinders very safe to use.
I didn't mean to hijack OPs post either.....just try to provide good info when I read things that are a bit off the mark.
