Absolutely. One of the last "big jobs" the builder will be doing for me is having his paint crew paint the entire exterior of the new construction. It will include caulking and priming all of the raw wood, and sealing and painting the exterior of the cinder blocks.
I've noticed on some of our trips out west that this type of reverse board and batten siding is favored in some areas. I like the look of the homes that use it. Especially when combined with a green or red standing seam metal roof.
The more widely available RB&B around here is a completely different pattern that isn't compatible with mine. Narrower "boards" and much thinner grooves that don't really resemble battens from a distance. You have to go to one of the real lumber yards around here to get this type of siding in the 4x9 sheets we needed.
