The red barn is in it's new location, and I've been working on finishing it up for the last few weeks. The "level pad" wasn't quite as level as I thought, so it took more blocks than anticipated to level it. The floor got a second layer of plywood to strengthen it, and I had them use some leftover house wrap as a vapor barrier under the floor.

The wall panels going up.

Gables and trusses getting installed. That's one of the trusses leaning against the side.

Shingles getting installed. I used roll roofing on it when I first built it because it was cheap and I knew it was going to get ripped off. Green 3-tabs being used now.

The carpenters are finished, Im going to put some additional trim on it since I have a bunch of leftover cedar boards from the garage build. Trim boards at the top and bottoms of the wall panels, in the gables, and every plywood seam will get a batten board. I've got some 1/2" mesh and white plastic lattice to close the bottom with and keep the critters out.

New trim installed, caulked, primed, and the first coat of paint. When I first built this, I bought a couple of five gallon buckets of oil-base barn and fence paint from Lowes that they were clearancing for $25 each. I used one when I first painted it, and held the other one back to use now. I should be able to get three good coats out of it before it runs out. No sense in saving it any longer, it will just go bad.

I'll probably never have another opportunity to do this, so I painted the floor. Gray oil base floor paint. I love this kind of painting. No tape, no drop-cloths, pour the paint on the floor, roll it out, throw the roller cover away. Easy clean-up.

The wiring inside is pretty minimal. All I've got are two 8 ft. florescent fixtures controlled by the switch next to the door, and a single duplex outlet inside, and plans for a couple of motion activated security lights in the gables. The barn will be used for storage, not a workshop. I had a leftover outdoor electrical box that had a GFCI outlet and an on/off switch in it. The on/off switch in the box will be used for the security lights, since they will be powered most of the time. The box had enough room in it for the connections I'd be making, so I used it. I haven't buried a line to the building yet, so there's just a temporary pigtail with a male plug on the end hanging under the floor. I've got a long, heavy extension cord that I plug into it when I need the lights on.

Hope to be moving stuff into it from the garage soon. I want to give the floor plenty of time to dry first.
