NRALIFR - Consider using Roxul instead of fiberglass batts. It's waterproof, fireproof and largely soundproof, but not appreciably more expensive than fiberglass. It also carries the same R value as fiberglass. Lowe's sells it.
Why is this insalation to be prfered over fiber glass.... why does it cost more? I took a quick look at their page.... I didn't see them compare their product to the old standby... fiberglas.
Thanks
BTW, would this be of advantage in RV's?
Chet
- It's not itchy or toxic
- It's much more resistant to fire than fiberglass
- It's denser than fiberglass, which makes it more soundproof
- It's waterproof. Fiberglass batts will soak up and retain moisture. Mineral wool (Roxul) will not.
- It can be compressed without losing it's R value more than fiberglass can
- It doesn't require a vapor barrier or face paper
Now that you mention it, I imagine it would be pretty good for an RV!
