So, upon further review of the issue, I will call to see if I can get a D rated tire, If not I will bite the bullet and pay for 5 more Maxxis 8008 ST tires, I WILL not cover or rub baby oil on them or pay for an extended warranty, I will continue to do what I do and hopefully get out more because Sitting seems to hurt the tires more than the sun!! Good luck to the LT folks as this is not an option for all of us. Some of the input on this has been interesting but allot is useless banter.. Cheers!!
:) Hi, jake2250; I have never, in eleven years had a trailer tire crack or dry rot. I had two ST tires develop a sideway bubble at 3 years and the other two start to separate after 7 years. These were made in Canada. No problems with my Chinese ST tires. I don't cover my tires and don't use anything on them either. They get washed with car wash soap when I wash my trailer and nothing else. My trailer has been on some very long trips. My trailer never goes on short trips. (less than 1,000 miles) My trailer has, I believe, sat motionless two times for about one year each time. My trailer ID placard say ST tires and that is all some tire shops will put on it. I don't want to be 3,000 miles from home and have a tire dealer state that they won't put a new tire on my trailer because what I have doesn't match my ID placard. I have an Airstream and some models of Airstreams came with LT tires, but it will say LT on the ID placard of that trailer. I had a friend with the same trailer as mine and his tires cracked at two years old and he replaced all of them. Why his, and your, tires cracked at such a young age, I don't know. But I would say there was something wrong with the tires, not what you did or didn't do.
