I had Firestone 5000 bags installed last year and have only used them a handful of times (but keep 5-10psi in them). So, today I go to fill one and it won't hold air. As I'm running my hand around it checking for rips I notice it's completely detached from the lower mount and sucks/blows air as I compress and release the bag. I can lift the bag up and see a bolt that seems like it should have a nut on it but from inside the bag. Having paid to have this done I'll undoubtedly take it back but am just wondering from anyone who has put these on how involved it is to get back in the bag and reset the nut (I'm assuming this is what is needed). Thanks!

There is not a nut on the bottom of mine, only a drilled and tapped hole for the mounting screw to go into.

I noticed the hole where the bolt goes in the bottom of the bag is all chewed up. I just figured it happened after everything came loose. It sounds like it got screwed up during install. I was actually standing there as they were installing that side and it seemed to not be going well :(

Or, just my tough luck?When I installed my Firestone I jacked the body up with rear axle hanging and then tightened up all the mount bolts to align the bags at full suspension travel. If installers did not do this then I think you have found the cause for your damaged bag.

Thanks Everyone.... yep, I talked to installer today and he has a spare bag at the shop and didn't seem overly surprised. When I described what happened and offered to swing by so he could look at it he said no need. Just bring it in to be fixed.

They may be warrantied for life, but it it was a faulty installation that caused the problem, then maybe not so much. The people who did the installation should be tasked with fixing it.

The bags are warrantied for life. Not sure how that pulled out, but take it back and get it fixed.

Guaranteed for life - just take it back and let them deal with it. If you mess with it, there's a chance they won't honor the warranty.

When I installed my Firestone I jacked the body up with rear axle hanging and then tightened up all the mount bolts to align the bags at full suspension travel. If installers did not do this then I think you have found the cause for your damaged bag.
