First Day Of Winter-Desert Style

Shake down trip with our new-old truck camper.......we live full time in a 35' fifth wheel for work, but we missed the days in our old pop up camper. With a three year old, and a wife who likes to use a toilet and shower the kid, we opted for an older 1993 Kodiak camper. It's 2,000lbs dry, and the truck handles it fine. A little more tippy than the pop up we had, but I'm not a fan of slow moving, off camber, rocky terrain.......I'd rather get out and ride my bike. So this camper seems perfect for us. Still need to get some stuff for it (new heater, or lube squealing heater fan, tie downs, finish ghetto paint job from previous, flat bed some day).

Please note, the maximum photo width=640.

  • I'm jealous also. Here I am looking out the window at my winterized TC sitting out there all by its lonesome while you're out in the Desert having fun. Nice photos you took in a picture perfect place. Glad to see someone is having a great time enjoying their TC.
  • How did you get the overhead shots? Do you have a quad copter?
  • Nice photos and trip.

Not to hijack the thread but what tires do you have on the truck? They look like BFG Rugged Terrains. If so how do you like them? Any undesirable characteristics.
  • Lol...I like big pics. Nice pics and beautiful area, thanks for posting.
  • Thanks a lot! Now that I have my old fifth wheel all set up I stumble across post like this and think.......I could just find me an old truck camper to just get away for a few days now and then. :) I like it.
