I've been using vent covers for years. It allows you to drive with the vent open and leave the vent open when it rains (which is common in my area). This is the model I installed from Camco which comes in black, smoke or white:

Our cab over is darker for two reasons: I have the full wall wardrobe on the passenger side and I have a Fantastic Fan instead of the Heki. Over the fantastic fan, I have a black Aero Flo cover which also cuts down on the light coming in.
This was before adding the vent cover:

Here you can see all three vent covers on the roof:

The window cover looks like a good idea where the leading edge is facing forward, but I worry about it scooping air if it is on the trailing edge and tearing itself apart. Anyone have long term experience with these?
