What's the documented EPA ratings for the 2 different ratios?
Fish, you brought up a good question and probably something that gets us closer to the answer on the 2.7 ecoboost fuel economy ratings disparity between 4x4 and 2x4. Appears that Fueleconomy.gov (official warehouse of fuel economy ratings for the EPA) only has 1 fuel economy rating for an ecodiesel with 4wd. It doesn't differentiate on chassis configuration nor is there any other fuel economy posting for the different rear end ratios. So maybe the posted EPA numbers are for the best fuel economy axle ratios that each respective company can bring to bare for their model truck and the selected motor and transmission. 3.55 for the RAM. 19/22/27 for city/combined/highway on the 4x4 8-spd ecodiesel.
