The cargo trailers are smaller and lighter than a TT. and most any good carpenter will have a 3/4 or 1 ton truck (or a dually). TT`s are a different animal. and even on close trips you still NEED a W/D hitch. I use one when I go anywhere, even 8 miles to the storage lot.
I see it a lot with the racer crowd. they are towing trailers with all there tools and car in it. the back of the truck is sagging (even the 3/4 tons) all because they think a W/D hitch is a crutch when instead it is a necessary piece of towing equipment! some probably think they have less of a truck because they have one.
