That sounds like a great set up! I hope that you where not overheating the engine or transmission. I can only wonder how long the transmission will last with 550 foot pounds of torque, and the applied higher than average horsepower of towing a trailer for long distances.
Normally pickups only put out the rated HP for the 7-8 seconds it takes to get from a stop sign to freeway speeds, then will be at 1/4 throttle or less for a long enough time that the engine will not overheat. But towing a trailer, and running 50% of full throttle for 30 minutes into a headwind can warm things up a lot more.
