I think you are on the exact correct path. Know what you want before you go shopping. I like the suggestion to have multiple copies of the list so you can have one page for each one you look at. TAKE NOTES. You will see things that are not on your list that may need to be categorized as AVOID, or NICE TO HAVE, or MUST HAVE. Then you can remember which one had the good or bad option after you are done. Heck throw some paperclips in your pocket to put the brochure in the TT with the list and notes.
