Thanks for the tips! I tried using a bit of ball grease (that's all I had with me in the TT), and it worked like a charm. I like the idea of the slide lube though, since I need to pick up some more of that anyhow.
When we upgraded trailers, we moved the Reese SC (with friction pads) from the smaller (~27') Springdale to the new trailer. Needless to say, although the bars were rated plenty high enough, the design of the new trailer (35' long and rear kitchen) puts a lot of weight in the back. Sean at ProPride suggested that this hitch is ideal for our setup ... and he was right!
The hitch certainly LOOKS intimidating at first, especially when you unpack it from the shipping boxes, but once you get the hang of it - and start to understand how it works - it really makes the towing experience much more relaxing and even enjoyable!
Until this message board, I had never heard of the ProPride (or Hensley), but this first trip brought us to a campground where we saw two other long trailers: one with a ProPride and one with the Hensley! I wonder now how common they are, especially on long damn trailers, since I never noticed them before.
Anyhow, I can't say enough good stuff about the hitch. :) Thanks ProPride and Sean!
(Of course, getting the new F350 helps too. heh heh)
