Congratulations on the Pro-Pride they look to be a great hitch!
It appeared the truck and trailer were not both level side to side. The truck looked unlevel side to side and was probably making the hook up harder? Eventually he had a bunch of planks and I saw later he had left with the trailer.
For those of you with one, is this probably an inexperienced user, a bad hitch-up situation or something you have seen? The man looked a little older, but he had some help.
I quickly learned that you can easily adjust the angle of the hitch receiver by raising or lowering the weight distribution jacks. That's the key when you're not on level (side-to-side) ground ... which is not uncommon!
As a matter of fact, I used a silver, Sharpie paint pen to make graduation marks every 1/2" on the inside shaft of each of the jacks. It makes it really easy to make adjustments quickly and to make sure that when we're ready to get underway both jacks are pretty even.
IMO, the hitching process is easier to learn than unhitching. After my original post, I had a "Duh!" moment when I thought about the fact that I wasn't raising the tongue high enough to free the TV. The hitch receiver needed to be at (about) the same height as the stinger on the TV. Like I said ... "Duh!" :) So, now I ALSO have a small mark on the shaft of the tongue jack so that I can see, at a quick glance, if I'm about level with the stinger when it's not inside the main hitch unit.
