Though we own a 5th wheel, I have to agree with some other replies on going with a pick up instead. Most modern pick ups that have 4wd are of rear wheel drive only and 4wd is activated by a dial, lever, switch etc. Decent mpgs, power and braking. Biggest thing is that you have the whole box to put "stuff" in that won't fit into camper or that you may not want to put inside a SUV. Winter time, put few bags of tube sand in for weight to aid in traction. If you go w/ the pick up, consider too cab size. Extended cab VS crew cab. The ext cab would be okay now, but you will find it to be cramped w/ car seat and related baby accy's. Crew cab offers much more room and more comfy if an adult has to ride in back. Not sure though how popular crew cabs were in 1/2 tons in '05-'11 range. Do you put on a lot of miles/kilometers? May want to consider a lease on a new truck as they have good or decent payments it seems.
