Unfortunately there are people out there that see a dip in fuel prices and run out and buy a fuel guzzler that they really don't need. If your one of those then your not helping.

I thought we were exporting oil?

We do some but for our own use we import about half of the oil we use everyday. That's down from historic highs but the more people that buy uselessly big vehicles (SUV sales are up 88% from a year ago) the more dependent we'll be foreign oil.
