You should be very aware of what cargo you carry and estimate any trailer hitch weights to be higher than a published brochure weight. The cargo capacity of your jeep is printed on a sticker on the driver's side door jamb. All vehicles of even the same model do not have the same cargo capacity. Towing vehicles of 1/2 ton truck size and smaller are limited by payload capacity, it is important.
A published trailer brochure weight may not include the weight of batteries or propane cylinders, the weight of carried water or waste, and the 500 lbs of carried gear that is typical for an RV. All of these increase the trailer weight and hence, the tongue weight. What started off at 550 lbs of tongue weight can rapidly rise to 650 lbs or more.
