I bought my first travel trailer on 5/25/2017, its a 2006 Adirondack 26RKSL. We pulled it a little over 100 miles this weekend and my new 2017 Ram 1500 with 3.92 gears and the 8speed auto pulled it great. I am already looking at different weight distribution hitches. I just wanted to introduce myself and apologize in advance for a ton of questions because we are learning as we go.

Great looking combination....sure a lot nicer than our 1st rig..Congrats, and what hitch are you running with now? You mentioned that you are looking at hitches.I've had 4 different ones..In you search, put Blue Ox SwayPro on you list.

Nothing but a standard drop hitch right now.

Congratulations! Drive safely, and use lots of water in your waste tanks: black tank especially.

Yeah, it surprised me too. I went and bought a 2 5/16" ball after I left the bank with the money to go pick it up because I didn't even look at it before and just assumed. It wouldn't even begin to go on there and then we looked at the tongue and sure enough it's a 2". GVWR on my trailer is 6240.

No way that's only a 2" ball?? My little #5000 GVWR has the 2-5/16" ball.. My little #2000 GVWR utility trailer has a 2" ball and no brakes...

Sure, my TT is a 2002, but I can't see them going to a 2" ball in 2006? Really??

If so, well, there you go..

I only use a simple EAZ-Lift WD setup and works great.

Guess I need to catch up on the "new and improved" setups??

We have the Blue Ox Sway Pro and love it. It's the only hitch I have every used, but it tows our 38ft, 10,350lb trailer great.

When loaded for camping with LP, battery, water, etc the hitch weight could easily be 600-700 lbs or even more. You should weigh it and then you'll know. An Equal-I-zer with 1000 lb bars would take care of you and they are pretty easy to self-install if you read and follow the directions. 4 point friction sway control is built into it.

My trailer has a dry hitch weight of 475lbs and uses just a 2" ball. How do I determine which weight wdh to buy.

I was looking at the Husky 31995 that has sway control and the 2" ball.

I am picking up my new Airstream Thursday. (I am picking up my new F-150 Tuesday.) The E2 hitch is the one the dealer was going to install at no charge. I am paying extra to get the Reese Strait-Line 1200 pound trunion bar hitch with Dual Cam sway control built in.

Note that the E2 is not an Equal-I-Zer. I would have accepted the Equal-I-Zer. I would not have been entirely happy, but I would have accepted it.
