First trip of the year!

wow, i remember seeing tons of repairs to wiring at dump stations over the years. tool bag has dykes, pliers, and crimping tool for scenarios like this. I was on a state roadway in deplorable conditon. I had the wires spun around the chains so they would not hit.

That's a lot of truth right there.

I had almost the opposite happen to me my first year with my camper. I lost the brakes on my truck. I still thank God I was on the uphill part of my trip... I was able to limp in to my campsite using my trailer brakes.

My cousin had his TT de-hitch (someone stole his hitch pin) last year (or the year before) when leaving Promised Land, and it cut through all the wires, he left it in the parking lot and returned to rewire it.

I am towing at 3500lbs less than my tow capacity specifically for scenarios described above.

I restored brake controller, lights, ground and charge wire for the return down those 15% grades.

Why would you continue on a 15% grade with the loss of the brake controller, no matter what vehicle was towing? I'm not trying to be smart, I'm just tryint to figure it out.

Lose brake controller functionality on 15% grades and you will understand.

I bought some connectors and semi repaired to get home safely. I restored charge wire 12vt, brake controller, lights, ground, and right blinker. All done at the state park before towing home.
You have to be prepared for anything!

Glad you got home safe and mostly sound. We also took our first "camping" trip, as opposed to using the TT as a hotel during our FL trip. Just Friday - Sunday, mostly holding down a chair, enjoying a glass or two, walking the dog, watched a couple of movies, visited with a really nice couple fulltiming, had a couple of great dinners, enjoyed quality time with spouse. Think we may make it for another week or so. Ahhhhhhh.
