First trip out with TC

This was our first time out with the TC. My wife and I are hooked. It was a 2 night 3 day vacation to Paintsville Lake Campground not far from where we live. I apologize for no pictures, in our excitement to get away and try this rig, we forgot the camera. My wife has never been a camper. Her only experience tent camping was a bad one, but half way through the trip, she informed me we need to do this often. I agree and we are looking forward to many more trips. If you get the opportunity, this campground is beautiful. It is well kept and clean. It was very quiet and peaceful. Our spot had a nice view of the lake. We're not new to the lake or the park, but had never stayed in the campground. I'm sure it will be one of our favorites. (I think I see where the rest of our money is going)Looking forward to it.
  • Hey there, Chief. You are not too far from us! Lots of beautiful places in WV... come visit! Especially if you like lakes/boat, I can point you towards a couple of them. I did do a day visit to a neat little state park near Gallatin, TN on Old Hickory Lake. I can't remember the name, but it shouldn't be hard to find. I was picking up the TC there and took the dog for a little exercise by walking around the park. Seemed very nice.

We have a whopping 2 trips under our belt...so I am not quite a veteran. ;)
I love my TC and just have trouble finding the time. We are going through a patch of family commitments and it is about to kill me that we can't get out of town.

    Have fun!
  • I was all excited first trip out ,a few years later still excited and enjoying it.

We've done that before, forgot the camera. Then when we get home someone says, "Hey, we all had cell phones with cameras!".

Glad you had fun! See you on the road.
  • congrats firechief! We just took our "shakedown" cruise two weekends ago at a local campground here in NC. We are now prepping for our two week trip to Michigan and the UP. We are hooked as you guys are with the TC life!

Enjoy that rig and be safe!

Thanks for the replies. We would like to travel east tennessee, kentucky, northwest indiana, and northeast ohio for starters. We are retired, so timing is not as critical. Anyone who might have suggestions or even their favorite campgrounds in these areas, by all means, either post or pm me.

Glad you enjoyed you first trip out.
Come on up to Brown County state park in Nashville Indiana. It's a huge beautiful park with lots to do and a nice campground. With a truck camper you can stay back in the woods in the more shaded and quiet section.
In the little town of Nashville, just outside the park, there some shops and eateries that are pretty good.
  • Thanks for telling us about your adventures. My wife did not like the whole idea, but loves it now, especially those quiet secluded spots, with no cell pickup.

  • There's an old saying on the net, "no pictures and it really didn't happen". Future happiness wishes to you and your copilot.
